On this week's episode of Sister Cale in Columbus-Summer arrived in
it's full delicious humidity and heat, the Sisters got ice cream, the
Sisters got soaked in the rain, the Sisters taught 32 lessons, Sister
Cale got a little behind on both of her Book of Mormon challenges
(hoping to get caught up this week), Sister Cale got blisters for the
first time since...ever, Sister Cale found another reason why she was
sent to Westerville, the Sisters had Blaze after Zone Training Meeting
(which was at the OSU Institute, so that was kind of trippy), the
sisters found a field of wildflowers, James and Leticia got baptized,
and there was much goodness in the land.
Hello My Friends!
When Elder Zeballos came to the mission two weeks ago he talked about
what a companionship ought to do if they find that they are serving in
a "hard" area-"Work harder". I feel like that is exactly what we have
done this past week and as we have done this we have seen miracles
come into the work. I think I'm finally becoming accustomed enough to
the general affluence of the area that I don't feel intimidated by the
doors that we're knocking on or the people who are about to answer
them. The simple reality is that all of God's children, even those who
aren't facing major trials in their lives, need an opportunity to
accept the Savior's invitation to "come and see".
The major highlight of this past week was being able to see James and
Leticia be baptized. Nothing compares to knowing that you have played
the smallest of roles in helping one of God's children make a choice
that will allow them to be closer to him. For the first time ever in
reading Alma 26 I really understood where Ammon was coming from as he
rejoiced over the role that he and his brethren had played in helping
the Lamanites come to a knowledge of the truth. As I thought back on
my mission and all of those I have been privileged to teach and love
here in this strange Ohio land, I realized (once again) that God
really could not have done anything to show his love for me like
sending me on a mission. It was the last thing in the world that I
thought I wanted and the only thing that could have brought me this
much joy and growth in such a short span of time. Something else that
was super awesome about Leticia's baptism was being able to see my
Pickerington family. I love them all so much.
We met some really amazing people this last week and I'm excited to
get to follow up and share more with them this week. I know that God
sends us to places where he needs us to be and asks us to do the
things that he needs for us to be doing so we can experience optimal
growth and he can bless his other children through us.
The church is true, life is good, God's in charge, and Satan hates you.
