The Week I Finished The Book of Mormon‏

On this week's episode of Sister Cale in Columbus-Sister Cale
> sacrificed naps, going to bed early, and every spare moment she could
> find to read The Book of Mormon in order to stay on top of her goal,
> the Sisters spoke at Mattie's baptism, there were cupcakes and free
> green smoothies, the land of Ohio was really warm and then wintery
> cold, the Sisters sang a prelude number on Sunday, and Sister Cale did
> not get transferred.

> Hello Loves!

> It's funny how I start to remember all sorts of crazy things that
> happened during the course of a week as I start to send out e-mails.
> We did so many different wonderful things this week and I'm so excited
> to see what happens this next transfer. I kind of can't believe that I
> get to stay here for another transfer. God answers prayers. I had a
> lot of good practice this week talking to Heavenly Father about how
> much I would really really love to stay in Pickerington another
> transfer, but how much I was also willing to do his will. Back when
> Elder Cardon came to the mission I promised the Lord and myself that I
> would be submissive and trust in his plans regarding transfers for the
> rest of my mission. I know that I always end up where I'm supposed to
> be, so it's funny that the idea of transfers causes me such stress.

> One of my favorite lessons this last week was when we taught David. We
> met David at Kara's Open House prior to her leaving for her mission.
> In a moment of complete missionary-y-ness, when Kara left David with
> us so she could go and have her picture taken with someone we asked
> him questions and then testified of the gospel. By the time that he
> left he had a copy of The Book of Mormon and a return appointment. The
> lesson that we had with him this week was so spiritually driven. The
> spirit that surrounded us as we taught in the Chapel was quite
> literally tangible. I'm so excited to see how his faith increases as
> he reads from The Book of Mormon and prays about it.

> Another fun thing that we did this week was starting a group e-mail to
> document the Savior's experiences during his final days on Earth.
> Preparing these e-mails for members in our area and our investigators
> has brought an entirely different perspective to this week for me. I
> have been very mindful of my Savior and with that has come an
> additional measure of the spirit. To say that Jesus Christ has changed
> my life is to make the most ridiculous understatement possible. I
> don't know that I can begin to express the depth of my appreciation
> for him or the desperation of my daily need for help made available to
> me through his great atoning sacrifice. I truly feel so lucky to be
> his representative during this and all seasons and hope I can continue
> to reflect his light in my countenance.

> My biggest success this week was finishing The Book of Mormon
> according to my goal-March 21 (Ethan's 18th Birthday-#shoutout). Like
> I said earlier, I skipped naps and stayed up right until it was time
> for lights out in order to accomplish this. I had been learning so
> much that I had been slowed down significantly from what I had
> previously been able to accomplish. I wouldn't give up a single
> insight though. I learned so much about how the repentance process is
> not only for a remission of our sins but to sanctify us and make us
> holy. I was taught time and time again of the necessity of Jesus
> Christ and his great redeeming power and how our covenants connect us
> to heaven. I love The Book of Mormon so much. It is my sanity as a
> missionary.

> Sister Scott and I sang "Consider the Lilies" for prelude on Sunday. I
> love to sing and it also simultaneously makes me really scared. It's a
> fun phenomenon. I was grateful for the Angels that helped us to sound
> good, because we happened to be fasting and we hadn't had anything to
> drink and a high G isn't exactly fun when you haven't had anything to
> drink in over fifteen hours.

> The Church is true, life is good, God's in charge, and Satan hates you.

> Love,

> Jessica
